Set 4 - A New Interior |
| You'll notice that my interior does not have any light boxes built into it, nor does it include "cutouts" in the console faces. If you look closely, you'll see that all of the consoles (and other places that light's supposed to shine through) are labeled "clear". These pieces will be backed with LightSheet and faced with transparencies. Also missing from these shots are four pieces that make up the bracing. (Too much trouble working out the differences based on 0.015" cardboard vs. 0.062" plastic - you can see I messed up one piece on the starboard side so there's a big gap!) (You may note the "P"s and "S"s on the pieces - they're there to remind me which are Port and which are Starboard.) The main bracing is in front and makes up the wall of the foot well, then continues up to hold the central displays rigid. It angles slightly inward so that it lines up with the edges of the central display. The other bracing is on the side to maintain the angle on the consoles there. You might also notice the outlines for the communications console - this is based on Scott's original piece, which is what I'll use if I can cut it out of the original wall intact. Amazingly enough, even though the cardboard warped from the glue I used and the thickness isn't right, this thing is very strong. All of my preplanning seems to be working (for now!). Next up is test fitting this interior into the model and making adjustments to the plans to accommodate the necessary changes. I only anticipate problems with the starboard wall of the antechamber - I'll probably have to adjust it so that the door swings easily. Stay tuned ... |
